Portugal North Coast - Pombal

As we drove on through Pombal we spotted a castle up on the hill behind the city so decided to stop and explore. We passed this impressive building as we walked up to the castle. It was the Convent and Church of Cardal, a baroque style church where the Marquis of Pombal was laid to rest in 1857.
